Season Notes

Boys Volleyball defeated 7th ranked Nansemond River to advance to the Finals of the SE District Tournament at Oscar Smith High tonight at 7:30 pm. and qualifying them to compete in the Regional Tournament at Tallwood HS.  Cliff Alder led the "Rock em Sock em" Hornets with 13 kills, 4 blocks, & 3 aces.  Our front line of Preston Prather, Tim Frye, & Jae Murphy dominated the net with an added 17 blocks.  Preston Prather had his season high with 12 kills & 6 blocks.  Our defensive covers Jared Alder, Matt Hemsley, & Jason Weast were able to take on and keep alive Nansemond's best attacks to enable our dynamic duo Cliff & Bobby to lead the team to victory.  Great job to Bobby Howell returning from injury and still having an outstanding all around game with good serving, passing, and 8 kills.  All students and faculty are encouraged to come out to Oscar Smith tonight and cheer our team on for the best match of our season against Great Bridge.  Take time today to congratulate the team for a hard fought, toe to toe battle, that they took control of and came out with a well deserved win and advancement to the Regional tournement.  Congratulations~

The Boy's Volleyball team led by the dynamite duo of Cliff Alder & Bobby Howell continue to improve as they hammered the Hickory Hawks at straight 3 games.  Jason Weast engineered the attacks with 32 assists and 7 aces.  Preston Prather added 5 blocks & 4 kills.
Thanks goes out to Damien Kaiser &  other students for their high spirit & obvious support.

Cliff Alder & Bobby Howell bruised the Western Branch Bruins badly with a combined 32 kills "Rock em Sock em style at the Creek. Jae Murphy & Preston Prather dominated the middle with 9 blocks; and Jason Weast had 28 assists with 4 aces as our Boy's Volleyball team smashed the Bruins.

The boy's Volleyball team gave the crowd plenty to cheer about last night as they played another round of smashmouth, Rock 'em Sock 'em volleyball in defeating the Nansemond River Warriors.  Bobby Howell led the Hornet's attack with 15 Kills, followed by Cliff Alder with 11 kills, and newcomer Jae Murphy with 7 kills.  The Hornets front line defense gave the crowd plenty to get rowdy about as they continue to dominate at the net, led by Jae Murphy with 6 blocks out of the team combined 14 blocks. However, the match was won with the sharp play and hustle of our defensive players, led by Jason Weast with 26 assists, Jared Alder and Cheese Hemsley, they displayed noticeable improvement in keeping the ball in play. Outstanding Team Play!
