CHESAPEAKE - Tyler Rhys Byrd, 19, passed away suddenly, Nov. 18, 2007. Born in Portsmouth, he was the eldest son of Tori and Stella Byrd. Tyler was a 2006 graduate of Deep Creek High School and played Quads in the marching band drum line. He was a sophomore at Penn State University, where he was majoring in information systems technology and was a brother of Phi Delta Theta. Tyler was a gamer and enjoyed playing World of Warcraft and Guitar Hero. He had a sarcastic sense of humor and always enjoyed a joke. Besides his parents, Tyler is survived by his brother, Jordan L. Byrd; his sister, Grace E. Byrd, both of Chesapeake; a paternal grandmother, Valrie Wright-Seay of Chesapeake; two aunts, Samantha Lee of Portsmouth and Nancy Lee of San Diego, Calif.; two uncles, Sean Wong and Charles Seay, both of Boston. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Chaplain Britton Joyner will officiate. The viewing will begin Friday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tyler R.
