Welcome Class Of 1988

Hello everyone, I was glad to have found this website. A friend who is a fellow classmate told me about it. I am currently married to the best man in the world. And have been with two children their names are VJ (12) Nilo (10) who are my honor students, and All Americans and Jamari (20 months). After graduation I did some modeling, and attended Norfolk State University, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology/ Criminal Justice. I worked with at risk youth for a number of years then went on to take a position with Social Services (Portsmouth, Va.) as a Social Worker. In 2005 our family moved to Valdosta, Georgia where I am now an Education Specialist at an area hospital. I also am working on my first Christian love novel “Pushing Beyond The Pain”. Hello Everyone, I am a proud mother of the Freshman class President at Chowan University, Brandon Jennings, now 18 a graduate of IRHS, an 8 year old Diva Imani and my All American, Jordan age 6. I am currently the Work and Family Studies (Home EC) teacher at Deep Creek Middle School and teach many of your children. I have been living in Chesapeake since 1999. I still hang out with my best friends Terri (Knight) Sprately and Tyra (McCann) Young. I really look forward to seeing everyone soon

After attending Deep Creek from K through 11, I left for Columbus Ohio where I graduated from Groveport-Madison High School. I then attended Ohio State University for my B.A. in English. After college I went to Columbia University for my M.F.A. in Creative Writing. I spent 1998 to 2003 in Hawaii and California writing for various magazines and newspapers. I returned to Columbus, Ohio in 2003 and am a corporate fundraiser for the Columbus Literacy Council. (Some of you may have known me as Howard Geressy before my name changed.)

I live in Hooper, Utah. I work for the Air Force civil service after twelve years of active and reserve duty. I have been married 13 years to my wife Danita we have 2 girls and are waiting for a third. Our girls are 11 & 13. I have three horses I use for a state western association, cattle events and hunting in the Rocky mountains. Just got the notice of the reunion in October and am considering coming. I live in VA Beach once more. I served in the military for 10 years and got out and started to work in the family business. I have two daughters from 16 years of age to 20 months. We are also expecting another girl in August of this year. I am divorced and remarried to Liza Garduque from VA Beach for two years now.

Hi Everyone! After graduation I went on to earn an A.A. Fine Arts from Tidewater Community College (Portsmouth Campus) and a B.S. Criminal Justice from Bluefield College. I spent about 15 years in local law enforcement and then switched gears to federal contracting in early 2006. Since that time, I've been working as a field investigator conducting national security personnel background investigations. Never thought I'd be crawling around on aircraft carriers, but I do it at least once a week now! Funny where life takes you, huh? Since graduating in 1988, I received my BS in psychology from William and Mary. I took classes for my teaching license at Virginia Wesleyan and taught 4th grade at Deep Creek Elementary for eight years. I married Andy Gray (Manor High School class of 1988) in 1996. He is currently a lieutenant on the Portsmouth Fire Department. We have two children, Jackson (6) and Meredith (2), and live in Western Branch. I quit teaching to stay home with the kids and also to work on my master's degree in library science from Old Dominion. I plan on going back to Chesapeake Public Schools as a librarian when the kids get older. An interesting note - Emily Asble Schultz and I are still best friends (going on 24 years now) and talk to each other on a daily basis!

Hi everybody, I am still a Chesapeake resident. I started teaching math in Chesapeake, teaching at Deep Creek High until 2003 when I became an assistant principal. I am currently an assistant principal at Menchville High School in Newport News, VA and a math instructor at Tidewater Community College. I received my A.S. degree in 1990 from TCC, B.S. in 1992, M.S. in 1996, and C.A.S. in 2002 all from ODU. I am currently working on my doctorate.

Greetings classmates! Even though I walked in the summer of 1987, the class of '88 is where my heart is! I am so glad to have found this website and to see so many respond! Since graduation, I received a BS from Hampton U. in Accounting, did that for 5 years in Philadelphia, PA. Went to Temple University, received a Master's in Sports Management and I have been doing promotions marketing/PR ever since. I've been blessed to have held a variety of positions including the Harlem Globetrotters, the Washington Wizards & Mystics (WNBA team) and I am now Special Events Coordinator in Washington DC with the Dept of Parks and Rec. I have been in the DC area since '99. Never been married, and no kids - however, my sister (DCHS class of '83) has kept DC halls filled: 1 nephew in class of '02, 1 in class of '06 and a niece playing basketball now on the JV team. I get back to Chesapeake as often as I can, and amazed at the changes! I hope to see you guys soon! Take care,

We have moved to Helena, MT from Pascagoula, MS. Our Naval Base Pascagoula was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina and we were asked to transfer to Florida or take orders. Since one major hurricane was enough for me in this lifetime, we chose to take orders to Helena, MT. Hope some of you get back in touch.

After graduating I joined the apprentice program at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) in Portsmouth. In 1991 I left the Shipyard for the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office. As a Deputy I was assigned to corrections, courts and the D.A.R.E. unit before being promoted to the rank of Corporal. In 1997 I transferred to the Virginia Beach Police Department. After graduating from the academy I was assigned to the Second Precinct (Oceanfront). I enjoyed assignments on the Oceanfront Community Policing Squad, mountain bike patrol, and small motorcycle patrol. Only one motorcycle wreck! In 2000 I was selected for transfer to the Special Operations Divison as a Hazardous Devices Technician (Bomb Tech) on the Bomb Squad where I am currently assigned. My ancillary duties include being a Flight Officer with the Helicopter Unit. I was married in 1993 to a DCHS alumus, divorced in 1994. I have been single ever since. No kids. My career has taken precedence as I am on-call twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. I would love to hear from old friends.

Welcome home Wes Gregory from your 7 month deployment to Baghdad & 3 week deployment to Kuwait. A major congratulations also to you and your wife Nicole on the birth of a new little girl named Hope Nicole Gregory. She was born on 12/30/03. Her measurements are 6lbs 8oz & 20" long. Wes just made it home in time for her birth.

Hello, my name is James Williams, my sister (Sonja) and I came to Deep Creek @ 1985/1986. We lived in the Camelot sub-division, and meet a lot of people who we seem to talk about whenever we are together. Gary Wayland Parrish, 35 died March 23, 2005. Mr. Parrish was a fire suppression specialist for overhead sprinklers. He was an avid hunter and loved wildlife. Mr. Parish was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. Mr. Parish is survived by his parents, Ruth and William Curling and James and Robin Parrish; two children, Courtney and Cory Parrish; and two sisters, Lisa Turley and husband Jerry and Dorothy Weaver and husband Draco.
