Robert C. Scott
CHESAPEAKE - Robert C. "Bobby" Scott, 64, of Deep Creek, died March 12,
2008. Bobby was born in Florence, N.C., July 20, 1943, the son of the late
Charles Scott and Beulah Flowers Scott. He retired, after 28 years, from the
Naval Air Rework Facility as a systems analyst. Bobby continued working,
however, as an accountant and later as owner of Commonwealth Accounting.
Bobby spent the majority of his life in Deep Creek, having graduated from
Deep Creek High School in 1961. He attended Frederick College, now known as
Tidewater Community College. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with an
associate's in applied science degree from TCC in May 1999. He was a
volunteer with the Brentwood and Deep Creek Fire Department/Rescue Squad in
the late 1950s and 1960s. He was a member of AF&AM Lake Drummond Masonic
Lodge, and was also a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. Bobby is survived
by his loving wife of 43 years, Margaret Knowles Scott; his daughters, Susan
Rogers and her husband Kevin of Chesapeake and Christine Wheatley and her
husband Keith of Virginia Beach and the most special girl in the entire
world his granddaughter, Sydney Marie Wheatley, known affectionately to her
"Papa" as "Dinky Bug." Bobby is also survived by four sisters, all from
Chesapeake, Patsy Scott, Peggy Scott, Judy Scott and Sybil Morgan and her
husband Evan. Bobby is further survived by a host of other family members
and friends including one special sister-in-law, Charlsie Knowles, who has
been an angel; a dear uncle and aunt, Lawrence and Emma Scott of Jonesville,
Va., and a special brother, Marlin "Mo" Patrick. Bobby was an awesome,
down-to-earth man who genuinely loved being with friends and family. He
always had a story to share or more likely, a joke to tell. He enjoyed
fellowship with his lodge brothers, a biscuit and a Coke with his buddies
who met at McDonalds, and any get-together that involved his family. He
truly touched the lives of so many people and will be greatly missed by all.
Bobby will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday
in Twiford's Funeral Home in Great Bridge. A reception will follow at the
Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge, 509 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake. In
lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Robert
C. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations may be made to any Towne Bank
branch. The family would like to give very special thanks to the staff at
Davita Dialysis Center at Crossways Boulevard, Dr. Thomas Mauser, Dr.
Alexander Su, Dr. Steven Lewinski, Dr. Joel Bundy and the nursing staff at
Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for their outstanding care of Bobby.
Condolences may be expressed to the family at
